Failed Florida Dems’ Disaster Relief Hypocrisy

Failed Florida Dems’ Disaster Relief Hypocrisy

Tampa, FL – Washington Democrats continue to do what they do best: use disasters to play political games with Florida families. Just last week, Senate Democrats blocked Senator Rick Scott’s Federal Disaster Responsibility Act because they want to tie funding for Ukraine to much needed disaster relief for Floridians. Senator Scott’s bill would quickly provide necessary funding to FEMA’s Disaster Relief Fund so Floridians, and all Americans impacted by recent disasters, can receive the support and resources they need to recover Predictably, the failed Florida Democrats seemed to have gotten their marching orders from Washington and are attacking Senator Scott instead of urging their Party to do the right thing.

Statement from Team Rick Scott Press Secretary Jonathan Turcotte: “There’s a reason why Floridians have rejected the failed Florida Democrats multiple times. Instead of urging their party to do the right thing and stop blocking Senator Scott’s Federal Disaster Responsibility Act, they’re using disaster relief funding to score cheap political points. Even worse, they’re blatantly and shamelessly lying about it. Senator Scott asked that the Senate hold a vote on much needed disaster relief for Floridians last week, but Senate Democrats blocked it. If the failed Florida Democrats want to be useful to Floridians for once, they should tell Democrats in Washington to stop blocking relief for Florida.”
