TAMPA, Fla. – Today, the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) has endorsed AGAINST Joe Biden and Chuck Schumer’s handpicked Florida senate candidate, Debbie Mucarsel-Powell.

Rich Templin, director of politics and public policy at the AFL-CIO Florida, said, “This was a reflection of members wanting to do something new, something different.” 

That may be in reference to Debbie Mucarsel-Powell’s history of losing, where she was unable to hold her seat in Congress and was fired by the voters after one term.

Mucarsel-Powell’s campaign remains broke, and nearly 80% of Florida voters still don’t know who she is. With the backing of the AFL-CIO, Stanley Campbell has a real shot to win the Democrat primary in August.  Campbell is also the only Democrat in the primary that has launched any advertising on television.

Statement from Team Rick Scott Spokesman Will Hampson: “Joe Biden and Chuck Schumer’s handpicked Senate candidate in Florida, Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, was just rejected by the state’s largest labor union. She has become too toxic for even the most liberal of unions to support. With Joe Biden’s numbers dropping so fast in Florida, we bet even more groups will come out against his handpicked Senate candidate in this competitive primary.”
