Debbie Covers Up Anti-Military Record
TAMPA, Fla. – Today, Debbie Mucarsel-Powell unveiled her veterans coalition at a luncheon with 10 people. She also refused to release how many veterans have endorsed her.
This comes after Senator Rick Scott unveiled his “Veterans for Rick Scott” coalition, which has over 250 veterans from every county across the state endorsing him. Senator Scott is also a veteran of the Navy.
While Debbie Mucarsel-Powell is now trying to re-write history, she has an abysmal record from her one-and-done stint in Congress, where voters fired her after one term.
Mucarsel-Powell voted for S.J.Res.68 in the 116th Congress, which made it harder for us to fight Iran. The resolution was eventually vetoed by President Trump.
Additionally, Mucarsel-Powell voted against a motion on the NDAA in 2019 that would have increased basic pay for members of the armed forces by 4 percent and increased military department operations by $1.6 billion.
More shockingly, Mucarsel-Powell and her Congressional Progressive Caucus fought for major slashes to our defense budget in 2019, threatening to tank the NDAA and ensure our troops didn’t receive their pay or necessary funding if their demands weren’t met.
While Mucarsel-Powell continues to lie about Rick Scott’s record, her anti-military, pro-Iran record couldn’t be clearer.

The only difference is Senator Scott has hundreds of veterans from across the state endorsing him and his record of supporting our veterans. Meanwhile, Congresswoman Mucarsel-Powell has a couple of liberal activists who are clearly unaware of her anti-veteran record. Congresswoman Mucarsel-Powell voted to make it harder to hold Iran accountable, voted against a pay increase for our troops, and even threatened to tank the NDAA and make our troops go without pay if her Progressive Caucus’ liberal demands weren’t met. While she can continue to lie, her record of fighting against our troops stands in clear opposition of Senator Scott fighting for our troops.”
