FLORIDA REALTORS
Orlando, FL – Today, Senator Rick Scott secured the endorsement from the Florida Realtors, the largest professional trade association in the state with more than 238,000 members. The organization is a legislative powerhouse, securing strong legislative wins to help grow Florida’s economy and ensure more families and businesses can call Florida home.
Senator Rick Scott said, “I want to thank the Florida Realtors for their endorsement today. As both Governor and Senator, I have had the opportunity to work alongside the Florida Realtors to fight for policies that will grow our economy. I can always count on this important organization to fight alongside me to champion critical policies like cutting taxes and reducing burdensome regulations so more people can own a home or business in Florida. Together, we want to make the dream of owning a home a reality for every Florida family. That is why in the U.S. Senate I am fighting to fix our broken federal flood insurance program so it is more affordable. I will also continue to fight Joe Biden’s inflation-inducing policies which have driven up the cost of everything and made the reality of owning a home nonexistent for so many families. I look forward to continuing to work with the Florida Realtors when I am re-elected.”
Florida Realtors President Gia Arvin said, “More people are calling Florida home every day because of the hard work then-Governor Rick Scott did to turn Florida’s economy around. Today, our state is an economic powerhouse because of the policies he fought for during his eight years in Tallahassee, and we appreciate all he now does in Washington to ensure prosperity in Florida. Our organization and our members have a long history of working with Senator Scott, including securing the first reduction in the business rent tax in Florida while he was Governor. We truly value the constant collaboration we have had with him and always appreciate his willingness to help us work to create an environment where more families and businesses can call Florida home. Florida Realtors proudly endorse Senator Scott for re-election. We are thrilled to support him, and we are so grateful for his strong commitment to housing, private property rights, and the Realtor profession.”
In the U.S. Senate, Rick Scott is currently fighting to:
- Pass his Flood Insurance Affordability Act to make flood insurance more affordable.
- Fix the broken National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) so the cost of flood insurance is lowered for Floridians. Florida policyholders have paid more in premiums than what has been paid out in claims reimbursements – a 2 to 1 ratio! Rick Scott has continued to lead the fight to fix a clearly unfair system for Florida families. To read more about the legislation Rick Scott is fighting for to fix NFIP see: the Removing Barriers to Private Flood Insurance Act, the Flood Insurance Consumer Choice Act, and the Flood Insurance Transparency Act.
- Senator Scott has been outspoken about the crisis Florida’s property insurance market is facing. Right now, the average property insurance cost for Floridians is twice as high as when he left office in 2019. Take a look at Senator Scott’s recent op-ed, I’m Sen. Rick Scott, and here are three insurance fixes for Florida homeowners, that outlines steps he believes state leaders need to take this session to get property insurance costs under control in Florida.
